Heart Rate Variability Analysis

One of the great unknowns in athletic training is how to monitor fatigue so that training load can be adjusted to achieve the desired results.

FitSense Australia has developed methods of monitoring athletic fatigue (or training readiness) using a 5 minute daily orthostatic challenge. The athlete is simply required to undertake the orthostatic challenge each morning while wearing a heart rate monitor that captures RR (beat to beat) data. The orthostatic challenge involves 3 minutes of lying followed by 2 minutes of standing. The resulting heart rate data is then analysed using specific heart rate variability analysis methods that allow daily and accumulated fatigue to be calculated.

FitSense Australia sports scientists then analyse this information and provide a report back to the coach / athlete on the athlete’s current state of fatigue and a recommended training direction based on this information.

This unique service has been developed by FitSense Australia who specialise in providing a prompt and customised service to sporting teams and organisations.

GPS Analysis

GPS monitoring in teams sports is a popular method of monitoring game workloads, player demands and movement patterns.

FitSense Australia has been analysing GPS data captured from teams sports since 2004 and has developed unique methods of analysing game demands and determining player workloads.

In addition to our work with professional teams, we have also conducted research into the area of Game Demands in AFL as determined by GPS monitoring. The AFL Research Board fund FitSense Australia’s work in this area and the research reports are available on our articles page.

Sport Specific Testing

FitSense Australia offers field based physiological testing for individual athletes and teams. FitSense Australia can both develop and implement appropriate testing protocols. FitSense Australia uses qualified sports scientists and accurate testing equipment to provide all services.

Online Training Log

The team of at FitSense Australia saw that many sporting teams were struggling to find the time needed to analyse data from player training logs- which were often kept on paper. The FitSense Online Training Log was developed to solve this problem. By capturing player data online, and providing flexible, powerful charting options to the coach, valuable training response data can be analysed simply and quickly.
