Earlier this year a new organisation was formed to represent corporate health providers within Australia. This organisation, The Health and Productivity Institute of Australia - HAPIA - (www.hapia.com.au), has members from many major corporate health providers within Australia (including FitSense).

The aim of HAPIA is diverse but includes an important aspect of the delivery of a successful corporate wellness program, that is quality assurance. There are many corporate health providers offering a diverse range of products and services, however the concern is the scientific basis behind many of these. A thorough corporate health program is more than just a gym membership or walking groups at lunchtime, it is a program which offers participants the ability to learn and make changes in their lifestyle. This is best done through the delivery of various one-on-one sessions, including an annual health and fitness assessment. It is services such as these assessments where there is a wide variety of protocols, tests, and equipment used. These variables can have a big impact on quality of the program delivered.
Over the coming year we hope to see the quality assurance recommendations put forward by HAPIA become a standard by which all quality providers of corporate health services follow.
After much preparation and hard work, FitSense Australia has recently released its first in a series of online wellness seminars. These seminars will be available online at the FitSense Australia website (www.fitsense.com.au) and will cover a range of wellness topics aimed at assisting the viewer with practical methods of improving their lifestyle.

The first online seminar became available in October of this year and was titled Become Your Own Personal Trainer. This session takes the viewer through the theory behind constructing an exercise program and practical steps in developing their initial schedules.
The second online seminars will be available in December and is titled Healthy Eating A Healthy Life. The seminar will be presented by dietician Andrew McCormack and covers key information related to weight management, reading food labels, and healthy eating tips.
These videos give health-conscious individuals the opportunity to listen and learn from qualified professionals at times that suit them. The videos have been set up for organisations who want to assist their staff to become more educated on health and fitness topics. Time poor, regionally based, and rostered staff can view the video at times of their choosing without the need to attend a normal on-site seminar.
